This paper, based on my presentation of the same title at the Observatory of the Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures in the United States’ 2021 symposium New Perspectives on Hispanic Cultures: Hispanism and Spanish in the U.S. over the Last 30 Years, was selected for publication in the Observatory’s journal, Estudios del Observatorio / Observatorio Studies.
